Ayanavaram goon hacked to death

A 23-year-old history sheeter was hacked to death near his house in Ayanavaram on Monday evening. Police, who are on the lookout for four of his acquaintances, suspect previous enmity to be the motive behind the murder.

Police said V Emmanuel (26) of Gandhi Nagar Housing Board, had allegedly consumed alcohol and played cards with four others — Ellaiyya, Thalapathy Appu, Pratap and Murali — on Monday evening. Police sources said they were returning to the housing board area when he was allegedly hacked to death. Police said he sustained three cuts to his head, two to his neck and three to his hands and died on the spot. Cops also found a grinding stone next to the body and suspect his head could have been smashed with it.

After the incident, the four who were with him have been absconding. Police sources added that they belonged to the same gang as Emmanuel, who was accused in two murders each in Anna Nagar and Ayanavaram. However, police suspect that an alleged fall out due to enmity could have led to the murder.

Police also said Pratap was the brother of ‘Punk’ Kumar, who was killed in a police encounter in 2006. Emmanuel’s son is  eight months old.
