Six new cases have been slapped on two granite companies, including PRP Granite firm, in the multi-crore granite scam in the district.
With the fresh cases, the district police have till now filed 72 cases against various granite companies, in which 41 cases were booked against PRP Granite.
The Melur and Keelavalavu police registered three cases each on the charges of criminal trespass, theft, violation of the Tamil Nadu Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation Act, encroachment of government property, damage to water channel and hoarding explosives without following the guidelines.
P Palanichamy, PRP Granite share holder, his wife Selvi, sons P Suresh Kumar and Senthilkumar, daughter Sivaranjani, daughter-in-law Chandralekha and brother-in-law Murugesan were named in the First Information Reports (FIRs) in five new cases.
In the sixth case, police booked Rajapandi, the proprietor of one of granite companies.
Special teams have filed six charge sheets in court and submitted 12 charge sheets to the Collector on Monday for his nod before the documents are filed at the Magistrate’s court, police official said.
