Beheaded body suspected to be of Keralite youth

The charred and severed remains of a beheaded body, which was found near the Makkalur Railway Cross in Seeragapadi village on Monday is suspected to be that of a student or a youth ailing from Kerala, police sources said. “We have recovered Rs 210 hidden inside the socks on one of the severed legs that was found near the railway track.

According to a police officer in one of the special teams, students from Kerala have the practice of keeping cash inside their socks. Besides, the Comfort brand of shoes is popular among Keralite students,” a police officer said. “Police teams are questioning all students from neighbouring states  studying in educational institutes in the region.

We have launched an investigation on the details of the students who are on leave or are yet to return from Kerala and those suspected to be missing.”

The Aatyampatti police have registered a case of murder and attempt to hide evidence. Ten special teams of the Salem police are investigating the case.
