CPI seeks drought relief for Vellore

The Vellore district unit of the Communist Party of India has appealed to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to extend drought relief measures to farmers of Vellore district, who have been affected by drought.

Executive member of the party R Mullai said, Vellore had been left out in the list of 18 non-delta districts. “This has disappointed farmers of the district,” he noted.

Farming had been affected in the district as rains had failed for the past 15 years. The district was facing drinking water crisis also. The CM should include Vellore in the list of drought-hit districts and announce relief measures soon, Mullai said.  ENS
