Gudiyattam to get additional water by May

Gudiyattam town is likely to get additional water supply from the waterworks that is underway at the nearby Pasumathur village. This was disclosed by the Municipal Commissioner (in charge), G Umamaheswari.

Four infiltration wells were being sunk on the banks of the Palar river at a cost of `67 lakh, funded by the Integrated Urban Development Mission and the work was likely to be completed by the end of May. Umamaheswari said, the commissioner of municipal administration, Chandrakant B Kamble inspected the construction work.  Around 3.6 lakh litres of water per day could be extracted from each well. The Pasumathur waterworks could contribute around 14 lakh litres, she said.  ENS
