Passengers sweat it out on new AC double decker

Passengers of three coaches of the new Chennai-Bangalore AC Double Decker Express (train no. 22626) were irked as the air-conditioner did not work in three coaches, on Saturday.

When the Chennai-bound train from Bangalore arrived at the Jolarpet Railway Junction around 5 pm, the passengers met the station master and complained that the air-conditioner was not functioning.

Manoj, a passenger of C-5 coach said, “The air-conditioning units in C1, C5 and C10 coaches were non-functional. The passengers of C1 coach pulled the chain when the train was about to leave the Jolarpet station.”  Some of the passengers said they opted to travel in the double decker train only because it was air-conditioned. They alleged that the air-conditioners in the other coaches also did not function properly.

The mechanic of the Jolarpet station reportedly checked the AC units and said they could not be repaired immediately.

Following this, the officials assured that the fare would be refunded to over 300 passengers of the three coaches at Chennai Central. The train departed from the Jolarpet railway station after a 20-minute delay.
