Three persons were arrested on Friday by Singanallur police for allegedly attempting to con a city resident by passing bundles of plain paper as cash.
Police said the three accused had approached Ananda Kumar promising to arrange for a bank loan. After collecting an amount from him as processing fee, the trio handed over five bundles of ‘cash’ to Kumar at Singanallur bus stop. When Kumar checked the cash, he was found only one note in the bundle was real currency, and rest were plain papers.
They accused were identified as Abdul Kadhar, Bala Murali and Siva Prakasam.
They were remanded to judicial custody.
