42 NTK activists held for staging rail roko

As many as 42 activists of the Naam Tamizhar Katchi (NTK) were arrested on Sunday when they attempted a rail blockade demanding action against the Indian Coast Guard officials, who assaulted Karaikal fishermen.

They also condemned the attack on Indian fishermen, including 29 from Karaikal, by the Sri Lankan Navy. The activists, led by Rafeeq, gathered at the railway station and tried to block the Tirupati train by sitting on the track. Police personnel arrested the activists and released them later. It may be recalled that 10 Karaikal fishermen were allegedly assaulted by the Indian Coast Guard near Karaikal coast.
