A consultative meeting on water problems in Zone 4-Shenbakkam of Vellore Corporation was held on Wednesday. The meeting was convened following continuous road rokos and protests in the last two weeks by the public, demanding regular water supply.
Mayor P Karthiyayini, commissioner P Janaki Raveendran, zonal officer in-charge M Kannan and zonal president and councillor of ward 47 K Ayyappan participated in the meeting.
Ayyappan said, of the 15 wards in Zone 4, nine belonged to newly added areas and special schemes like Integrated Urban Development Mission need to be executed in these wards. The councillors also demanded more bore wells in the area. Some councillors wanted restoration of hand pumps, deepening of some bore wells and de-silting of open wells.
