V Narayanasamy alleges corruption in PWD projects

Union Minister of State for PMO V Narayanasamy on Saturday sought judicial probe into alleged corrupt practices followed in PWD while preparation estimates and awarding contract.

Briefing newsmen at a press conference on Saturday, Narayanasamy alleged that estimates for any work was being calculated at 50 per cent above the actual estimate of the work, which is then awarded to contractors.

This 50 percent, he alleged, was shared by officials and politicians who are “close” to Rangasamy. Stating that the practice has been going on for the past two years, he sought a judicial probe into the enhanced estimates and the amount of misappropriated fund during the two years of Rangasamy’s rule.

Further, he wondered where the Rs 2.5 crore allotted for the maintenance of the “Aayee Pond”  and Rs 75 lakh allotted for desilting the same had disappeared.

Pointing out that the demolition of the structure constructed by the Devaki Steels at the site for which the acquisition notice was given by the government was a sheer case of political vendetta, he said. Being in power does not give one the authority to violate guidelines, Narayanasamy added.
