Mystery over man's death at temple fest

Postmortem of a 25-year-old man who died during a temple festival and was buried in a hasty manner, was performed on Tuesday as the family raised doubts over his death.

Jeyganesh, son of a local temple priest at Sathankulam had gone to a temple festival on 15 August. There  he danced in a semi-conscious state and died at the spot under mysterious circumstances. The people and the temple officials had told the family that it was the act of the Lord and so they should not inquire into it. So, the body was buried without informing the police.

On 21 August, Muthu Parvathi (21), sister of Jeyganesh, a law college student complained that she had doubts over her brother’s death and asked for inquiry and a post mortem.  As demanded by her, Jeyganesh’s body was dug out in front of Sathankulam Tahsildar, Migavel Gnanadeepam.
