A group of six returning from Velankanni Arokiamatha Church met with an accident when a speeding lorry hit their car near Tharuvaikulam, on Friday morning. Three persons died while the condition of the other three was serious.
Sources said that Xavier (55) along with his friends Sagayaraj, Alai, Benedict, Alphonse Kattabomman and car driver Nataraj had gone to visit the shrine on August 28 from Thoothukudi.
On Thursday, while they were returning a speeding lorry dashed their car. Xavier and Alphonse died on the spot while Alai died at the hospital. A case was registered.
