‘MK champion of contradictory speeches’

Describing DMK president M Karunanidhi as a ‘champion of contradictory statements’, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Friday charged the DMK leader’s statement that he would strive for Dalit welfare lacked credibility.

“People of TN are not in a frame of mind to believe Karunanidhi’s statements as he is a champion of contradictory speeches. Karunanidhi’s remarks against the PMK will not have any bearing on the party’s prospects”. Addressing the media, between a consultative meeting of the All Communities Protection Forum, Ramadoss lashed out at Karunanidhi’s statement that he would work for Dalit’s welfare, even if the PMK vanished.

Alleging that the Prevention of Atrocities against SC/ST Act was largely being misused in TN, he said that the Centre should bring an amendment to save the people of other communities.

“We will hold state wide protests in February and will meet the Chief Minister and Prime Minister to insist on the amendment” he stated.

Complaining that many people were being incriminated in the name of SC/ST Act, he mooted that a committee comprising judges and legal luminaries must be formed to enquire the case before the law slapped on a person.

He claimed that his party since its inception had been striving hard to protect the rights of Dalit community. “We are always ready to work for the  welfare of  Dalit community,” he added.
