MK flouting Anna principles: Jaya

Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalithaa on Wednesday charged that DMK president M Karunanidhi has been acting against the avowed principles of late leader C N Annadurai and wielding pressure on the Centre to ignore the fair demands of Tamil Nadu with regard to vital issues such as  allocation of additional power, notification of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal’s final award and releasing funds for welfare schemes.

“Propelled by selfish motives, Karunanidhi has bid adieu to the very fundamental principles practiced by Anna and has been functioning as a pawn in the hands of the ‘northern hegemony’”, Jayalalithaa said writing to the AIADMK cadre on the occasion of the 96th birthday of party founder and former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.

Stating that ever since the times of M G Ramachandran, Karunanidhi has been targeting the AIADMK and its regimes, Jayalalithaa said now the DMK president has been using his influence in the Centre to malign the government headed by her in Tamil Nadu and insult her personally.

“Karunanidhi, who faced many a defeat in his efforts to remove MGR from politics, continued his evil designs against me too. Thwarting all of them, I took over as the Chief Minister of the State for the third term. The evil designs of Karunanidhi are not new to me. I vow to undo all of them with the blessings of MGR and you. All that you should do is to strive for winning all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry so that we will be the deciding authority at the Centre and win the rights of the State”, Jayalalithaa said.
