Dayalu Ammal, wife of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, is a key prosecution witness in the 2G case, has moved to the apex court seeking personal exemption from appearing and deposing before the Special CBI Court in the 2G case citing medical grounds.

Senior counsel Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Dayalu Ammal, told a Bench, comprising Justices P Sathasivam and J Chelameswar, that his client was not in a position to travel and therefore she would not be able to depose before the court.

Though in a petition, Dayalu Ammal, said that she had undergone diagnosis by 64 slice brain FDG pet CT scan from July 25, 2012 to February 12, 2013 which suggested dementia, the trial court had dismissed her application.

Later, she moved the Delhi High Court, which on July 4, asked her to move the apex court for the relief as the latter is monitoring the 2G case.
