The work-to-rule agitation by the workers of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited affected the power production, according to information gathered here on Wednesday. The production has reportedly come down to 2,000 MW against the capacity of 2,490 MW, sources said.
According to sources, the workers, sticking to their jobs specified to them, were not attempting to do extra work normally undertaken by them voluntarily.
Sources said there were attempts to gherao the executives, which led to tension.
It may be recalled the protest against disinvestment of Neyveli Lignite Corporationshares was called off on Monday and workers had returned to their jobs.
Meanwhile, the talks held to resolve the contract workers demand for regularisation ended in a failure in Puducherry.
