SID begins probe, visits murder spot in Salem

The investigation team visited Auditor V Ramesh\'s office at Maravaneri and lifted fingerprints from the spot.

The Special Investigation Division (SID) constituted by the Tamil Nadu police began probe into the killing of BJP state general secretary Auditor V Ramesh in Salem on Monday.

The SID was constituted by an order of the Chief Minister to probe the killings of of Ramesh and  S Velliappan, VHP state secretary following a demand made by senior BJP leaders Venkaiah Naidu, L Ganesan and Pon Radhakrishnan during their visit to Salem on July 20.

CB-CID Salem Unit visited Auditor V Ramesh’s office at Maravaneri. Forensic experts of the Division lifted fingerprints from the spot.

M N Manjunatha, IG CB-CID , who heads Division, chaired a meeting of SID personnel and the City Police. The composition of the Division is likely to change, said SID sources.

The stage at which the investigation has been transferred and whether any head way was made into the case by is not known.
