Vaccination drive after anthrax scare

Animal husbandry department launched a drive to vaccinate cattle in Gudiyattam block following the death of three animals due to anthrax.

Animal husbandry regional joint director Dr Kamalanathan said, a team of experts attached to the Animal Disease Intelligence Unit is camping in the area and is vaccinating the animals. Around 556 animals have been vaccinated, he added.

The vaccination was planned to be taken up after the rains in  August/September. “Now we have to advance it,” he said.
