Residents of Jeeva Nagar and Koil Maaniyam Streets in Thorapadi staged a road roko in front of the Corporation tax collection centre on Monday morning, demanding regular water supply in their area.

They complained that water supplied through tractors was stopped for the past 20 days. Around 200 families in the area were affected, he added. Councillor of ward 49 K Sukumar said the private borewell from where the tractors were bringing water to the residents had developed a snag due to which water could not be supplied. Bagayam Police pacified the protestors. Traffic was held up for more than half an hour.
