118 Vellore schools achieve 100 per cent pass results

Rural government schools in the district perform better than their urban counterparts

In the district, 118 schools out of the total 519 have achieved cent per cent pass this year in the Class X Board examination, the results for which were announced on Friday.

This includes 10 government schools, seven government-aided schools and 101 matriculation schools in the combined Vellore and Tirupattur educational districts. Among the government schools, rural schools have done better compared to their urban counterparts.

Scrutinising the results analysis data made available by the education department here reveals that government schools in Vellore educational district have done slightly better with a pass percentage of 78.18 (13,056 students out of 16,700 appeared have passed) as against 76.26 per cent (12,210 out of 15,511) in Tirupattur district.

Vellore has a total of 153 government schools while Tirupattur has 158. Overall, around 128 government schools out of the 311 in both the districts have achieved over 80 per cent pass. On the other hand, the 44 government-aided schools in Tirupattur district have done better this year with a pass percentage of 87.03 (8,063 out of 9265 have passed) with five schools achieving cent per cent pass, as against the 26 in Vellore district that have ended up with 86.19 per cent (4563 out of 5294) with two schools achieving cent per cent pass.

The Government High school at Athikuppam registered the lowest result of 31.58 per cent in the district. Voorhees Higher Secondary School in Vellore registered 53.81 per cent pass, the lowest among the aided schools in the district.

The Government Adi-Dravida Welfare High School at Alangayam secured 50 per cent pass, the lowest among such schools in the district.

While both Vellore and Tirupattur have an almost equal number of matriculation schools, Tirupattur has fared better than Vellore this year. Out of the 73 matriculation schools in Vellore, 44 have achieved cent per cent pass with an overall result of 97.96 per cent.

On the other hand, out of the 72 matric schools in Tirupattur, 57 have achieved cent per cent pass with an overall pass percentage of 99.45. The seven municipal schools in Vellore educational district and two in Tirupattur district have scored a pass percentage of 75.07 and 63.95 in the results, respectively.
