Upset over results, girl hangs self

A 16-year-old girl hung herself with her duppatta in Arni Friday evening as she was reportedly upset about the marks she had scored in the Class X Board examination.

Rasika, daughter of Murugan, a resident of Annai Sathya Nagar in Arnipalayam, had written her board examination this year. When the results were published on Friday, she scored 281/500 and was upset about the same.Police said that she had expressed shock over the results to her friends. In the evening when her parents came after work, they saw her hanging at their house.

The Arni Town police registered a case and sent the body to the Arni Government Hospital for postmortem.
