DMK local body representatives join AIADMK

Around 240 elected representatives of local bodies from villages, towns and municipalities, belonging to the DMK, PMK, DMDK and VCK have joined the ruling AIADMK, according to the Health Minister K C Veeramani.

He said these members of various parties joined the ruling party in Chennai in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday. Membership cards were also distributed to them by the CM, he added.

The elected representatives included five  municipal councillors of Gudiyattam (R K Anbu, A Karthikeyan, Gandhimathi Arumugam belonging to DMK and independent councillors S K Suresh, M Harikrishnan, district secretary of Pasumai Thayagam (a PMK wing) Sridhar, four councillors of the Pernmabut panchayat union -- Venkatresan, Saida Anathakumar, Kangaraj and Kokila Chakravarthi, six panchayat presidents -- Sankar (M V Kuppam), Sridhar (Azhinjikuppam), K Ranjitha (Venkatasamudram), Jagadesan (Sendathur), J Sarawathi (Devalapuram) and Samy (Mordhana).

Veeramani said a similar group of elected representatives from Jolarpet block and  functionaries of various parties also joined the party on the occasion. They were impressed by the Chief Minister’s welfare schemes and the way the AIADMK government was ruling the State, he added.
