Sudan case suspect dies on way to GH

Kumar alias ‘Kokki’ Kumar, one of the key accused in the murder of Sub Inspector Alvin Sudan, died while being taken to a court, here on Thursday.

As news spread about the death of Kumar, tension gripped parts of the town.

Kumar (26) alias Kokki Kumar, who was arrested in the Alvin Sudan murder case, was later released on bail. On information police rushed to the spot and arrested him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vellathurai said that Kumar was arrested for threatening a person with a knife.  Later while being taken to the court he complained of chest pain.

Following this, the police officials took him to the Manamadurai general hospital. As  doctors found that his pulse rate was dropping, they  referred him to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. However Kumar died on the way to the Madurai hospital.
