Three years after the launch of Rajiv Gandhi Jana Sree Bima Yojana, (Implementation of Group Insurance Scheme for the members of all families below poverty Line) in 2009 by the Puducherry government, twenty beneficiaries from BPL families would be getting the insurance amount of Rs 30,000 each. The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) released the cheques for the beneficiaries whose premiums were earlier borne by the government.
Minister for Local Administration N G Pannirselvam distributed `30,000 each to eight families in Oulgaret Taluk under the scheme implemented by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management on Monday.
The remaining 12 beneficiaries, including four from Oulgaret and eight from Puducherry taluk, would be handed over the amounts subsequently through the respective MLA, officials said.
