7-year-old boy drowns in temple pond

A 7-year-old boy who was playing at the temple pond (theppekulam) of Mariamman Temple in Virudhunagar drowned after he slipped and fell into it on Friday.

Duraipandi, son of Vadamalayan of Allampatti, was a class-II student at a private school. Personnel of the Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the spot and retrieved Duraipandi’s body from the pond and sent it to Virudhunagar Government Hospital for postmortem. Virudhunagar Bazaar police have registered a case .
