Annamalai University security guard held for four robberies

Police on Friday arrested a security guard of Annamalai University for carrying out four robberies in Chidambaram.

Police recovered 28.5 sovereigns of jewellery from Senthil (30), a native of Kothangkudi village near Chidambaram, who has been a security guard in Annamalai University.

DSP Rajaram said, “On March 13 last year, Senthil robbed eight sovereigns gold jewellery from Rani, a nurse. His modus operandi involved sporting a monkey cap and throwing chilli powder on the victim’s face and snatching gold jewellery from them. He also looted nine sovereigns of gold jewellery from a motorbike box and robbed 5.5 sovereigns of gold from Hemalatha at Sethu Scan Centre, besides robbing 6 sovereigns of gold jewellery from Chellathai.”

Chidambaram town inspector P Muruganandham registered a case and recovered the stolen jewellery.
