The Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) that was implemented by the State government last year till class VIII in all the government schools, will now be implemented even to high schools from Class IX from this academic year.

To pursue this effort, a two-day orientation programme was organised by the District Institute of Educational Training (DIET), Kumulur, in association with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for the teachers here on Wednesday.

In a bid to bring relief to school children carrying an overload of books, the Tamil Nadu government introduced the trimester system in schools from classes-I to class-VIII from 2012-13. As the system had been already been successfully implemented this year, it is to be extended to class IX in the current academic year.

The Directorate of School Education has started training programme to the teachers handling classes for ninth standard for all subjects as the system includes CCE modules.

In Tiruchy district, the classes commenced at four centres.

“Teachers were exposed to multi-level training to handle the subjects in accordance with the physical, mental and psychological abilities of students by experts,” said M Jamal Nasser, Principal, DIET , Kumulur.

A similar two-day training has been organised to all high school teachers in Madurai, which is now underway at the Nirmala School here.
