The Enforcement Directorate has attached Rs 13.21 crore cash deposited in various bank accounts of Sukash Chandrasekhar, the boyfriend of actress Leena Maria Paul. The action has been taken in connection with the cheating case against Sukash Chandrasekaran, who allegedly defrauded a bank in Chennai to the tune of Rs 19 crore.
A statement on Tuesday said the money was attached as they were found to be a part of the proceeds of a crime. Sukash Chandrasekaran, in collusion with Jagadeesha, the then chief manager of Canara bank, Ambattur SME branch, and M Balasubramanian, MD of Future Techniks, Chennai were allegedly involved in money laundering offences. The ED registered a case under The Prevention of Money Laundering Act after an FIR was registered by the Chennai CCB, against the trio.
Jagadeesha, as the chief manager of the bank had permitting over-drawing to the tune of Rs 19 crore in the account of Future Techniks in violation of the bank rules. Investigating the case, the ED has now attached the cash from various bank accounts of Sukash.
