Youth attack woman, flee with chain

Two unidentified youth attacked a 30- year-old woman who was waiting at the Vellore New Bus Stand to board a bus in the early hours of Sunday and snatched a five-sovereign gold chain from her.

Two unidentified youth attacked a 30- year-old woman who was waiting at the Vellore New Bus Stand to board a bus in the early hours of Sunday and snatched a five-sovereign gold chain from her.

The victim, Jaya Sridevi, wife of Sampath and a native of Periya Allapuram in Vellore, had  boarded a bus in Chennai and reached the Vellore New Bus Stand bus terminus around 2 am on Sunday.  The youth accosted her and struck a conversation with her. Within a few minutes, one of them attacked her with a knife. They also snatched her thali chain and fled the spot. Jaya Sridevi sustained a cut injury on her left elbow. A case was registered.
