Venkatraman is AIADMK Candidate for Alandur Bypoll

Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Thursday announced VNP Venkatraman, the party’s Alandur town unit secretary, as the AIADMK candidate for the by-election to the Alandur Assembly constituency which is to be held on April 24.

Venkatraman is the son of former Minister V Natesan Palraj. The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of Panruti S Ramachandran, who was representing Alandur constituency.  Ramachandran resigned as the member of the State Assembly and as the presidium chairman of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) on December 10. Later, he joined the AIADMK. The total number of voters in this constituency is 2,97,631. Of them, 1,49,705 are men and 1,47,914 women, while 12 are transgenders. There are 310 polling booths in this constituency.
