The Congress party is fighting the Lok Sabha polls solely with people’s support as the party has kept off the Dravidian parties, Union Minister of Shipping G K Vasan said on Monday. He said this during the election campaign for party candidate R Devadass at Kalakuruchi.
“Dravidian parties stopped the schemes introduced by Central government as they are selfish. Former Congress leader Kamaraj constructed schools in all villages to educate the children in Tamil Nadu, but Dravidian parties are setting up wine shops everywhere and making women and children shed tears,” said Vasan.
Earlier, Vasan went to Rishivandiyam and garlanded an Ambedkar statue there. Later, he addressed a gathering at Pagandai Junction. He said, “ BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had stated that the DMK and the AIADMK were hindering the development of Tamil Nadu. If that is true, he should give an assurance that he won’t seek support from those parties after the elections.”
Answering a question regarding Modi-Rajini meeting, during a press meet at Tirukoilur, Vasan said, “The actor is neutral in Tamil Nadu, so the meeting could have been only on the basis of friendship, not political.”
