Law College Students Protest Fee Hike

PUDUCHERRY: Students of Dr B R Ambedkar Government Law College boycotted classes and  protested against the hike in fees during the current academic session from Rs 750 to Rs 3,500.

Stating that the hike was enormous and adversely affected the students, particularly those from lower economic strata of society, they sought withdrawal of the hike. The students led by Anand, secretary of Students Federation of India and Swaminathan, secretary Students Association came to the Legislative Assembly and called on CM N Rangasamy at his chamber and discussed the issue. The students called off their strike after the Chief Minister assured them that he would consider fixing the fee at Rs 1,000 instead of Rs 3,500, said Anand.

The college has a strength of around 1,200.
