Shopkeeper Arrested for Raping Minor

PUDUCHERRY: A shopkeeper was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl residing in Katterikuupam police station limits, here on Tuesday.

According to police, on July 21, the girl, aged 10, went to the shop owned by Arumugham (43) to buy bread, when the accused allegedly lured her to a nearby place and assaulted her sexually after drugging her.

The girl’s father, on coming to know about the incident, lodged a complaint with the police. After preliminary investigations, Arumugham was arrested on Tuesday and is now remanded to judicial custody at the Kalapet Central prison.
