Jayalalithaa Thanks Modi for Thambidurai's Election

Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring the unanimous election of M Thambidurai as deputy speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha.

CHENNAI: Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring the unanimous election of M Thambidurai as deputy speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha.

The Chief Minister called up the Prime Minister and thanked him for extending his support in the election of Thambidurai. She also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister in this regard.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and president of Tamil Nadu BJP, Pon Radhakrishnan greeted Thambidurai on his election as the deputy speaker of the Lok Sabha. In a statement here, Radhakrishnan said Thambidurai has been a Member of Parliament for a long time and has experience in handling the House proceedings as the deputy speaker.

Stating that a Tamilian has got one of the highest posts in the country, he wished Thambidurai all success in his new responsibility.
