COIMBATORE: The Directorate of Collegiate Education in association with the State Information Department has decided to organise Tamil elocution and poetry competitions for college students on the topic Gandhiya Vazhiyil Ammavin Aatchi (Amma’s Governance in the Footsteps of Gandhi) on September 10.
According to official sources, a decision to conduct the competition on the 146th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was taken at a meeting of officials belonging to the Information Department and Directorate of Collegiate Education at the State Secretariat in Chennai on August 25.
In a circular issued to college principals in Chennai, Joint Director of Collegiate Education V Gandhimathi said that the Information Department has decided to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary celebrations, as part of which, Tamil elocution and poetry competitions on the topic Gandhiya Vazhiyil Ammavin Aatchi will be held at the Bharathi Women’s College on September 10.
