People Throng to Worship Lord Ganesha

PUDUCHERRRY: Vinayaka Chathurthi was celebrated with traditional fervour as a large number of people thronged the temples of Lord Ganesha in their areas and offered prayers on Friday.

The shrine of Manakula Vinayakar Devasthanam, one of the oldest and most revered temples in town, witnessed serpentine queues since the early hours of Friday.

People queued up as early 4 am at the Manakula Vinayagar temple, where special “Theeparathanai” was held around 5: 30 am. The flow of devoteese continued till late in the afternoon.

Special poojas were performed in  various Vinayaka temples. Devotees also distributed “prasadam” to the public after the end of the poojas.
