Tight Security Cover In and Around Coimbatore for 22nd Babri Masjid Demolition Anniversary

COIMBATORE: A tight security cover has been thrown in and around the city, in view of the 22nd anniversary of the Babri Masjid Demolition, falling on December six.

Some 2,500 police personnel would be deployed for the round-the-clock vigil from tomorrow, with additional force positioned in sensitive and hyper sensitive areas, police said.

Vehicle checks have already been intensified from this evening, along with 33 patrol teams moving in and around sensitive areas and check posts, they said.

Armed police personnel will be on guard at places of worship, government installations, places of large public concentration and busy market areas, with strict watch on lodges, they said.

A 'three-tier' security is already in place at the airport, police said.
