He said this while speaking to newmen after inspecting the progress of ongoing works at the railway station  on Friday.

Misra said the goods train movement from Puducherry had been suspended following the congested transport movement in the town for clearing the materials that arrive by those trains. The goods shed had been removed for the construction of the platform and the work was started in July last year.

He said a portion of the railways’ work on the Arumparthapuram overbridge was over and the remaining work was to be completed by the Territorial government. The girders on the overbridge at the 100 Feet Road has to be erected by the railways and once this is done, the  government is expected to do the remaining work, he said and added that the work on the level- crossing 41 A has been started by the  government.

Replying to a query, the Southern Railway general manger said the  government was extending all co-operation to the completion of the works at the earliest.
