Togadia Mum on Modi Govt Performance

PUDUCHERRY: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia on Monday refrained from making comments about the functioning of the Modi government and said he was neither a politician nor an ‘agency’ to do so.  Addressing a press conference, he said in a lighter vein, “How can a surgical oncologist perform plastic surgery?”

When it was pointed out that he had expressed opinion when other governments were in power at the Centre, Togadia said those comments were made with reference to issues concerning Hindu society and added that even now he would do so but at the appropriate time.

Expressing hope that Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) would uphold its promise of scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution made in its election manifesto, Togadia avoided comment on the stalling of Parliament over Sadhvi Niranjan Jothi‘s hate speech.

Later, speaking at Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s golden jubilee celebrations in the Kamban Kalai Arangam, Togadia said the outfit had resolved to provide safety and security to Hindus so that they could live with dignity and prosperity.
