VILLUPURAM: Chinna Salem police officials on Wednesday evening detained a farmer and his wife for cremating their daughter’s body without informing them.The girl had died in an accident on Monday.
Police said Kandhaswamy (44) a farmer and his wife Pazhaniammal (38)were living with their two children at Thentherasalur village.
On Monday evening, Kandhaswamy’s daughter Kavya (2) who was playing near the house accidentally fell inside a bore well that did not have a fence or a protective wall.
Hearing her scream, Kavya’s family members rushed to the spot and managed to recover the girl’s body after nearly two hours of struggle.
On Tuesday, Kandhaswamy along with his close relatives cremated the girl’s body without informing the police.
The Village Administrative Officer (VAO) Murthi, who came to know of the incident informed the Chinna Salem police, who detained Kandhaswamy and Pazhaniammal on Wednesday evening.
