Cop Suspended in Child Sex Racket Case

PUDUCHERRY:  Sub-Inspector Basha  was placed under suspension on Friday for his suspected involvement in the child prostitution racket involving two minor girls, after CD-CID, which is investigating into the case, pressed charges against him. In all, nine serving policemen and a retired policeman had been charged in the case.

Already, inspectors Yuvaraj and Sunder; sub-inspector Balakrishnan; head constables Selva Kumar, Kumaravelu and Pandarinathan; and constables Vijay Kumar and Shankar have been charged in the case  and placed under suspension. The police has charged the retired sub-inspector Rajaram in the case. However no one has been arrested so far, as they remain at large.

Four persons were also arrested in connection with the case and they include kingpin K Pushpa, 43, from Thavalakuppam and her associates S Raghu alias Rahman Khan, 29, from Tindivanam, M Manickam, 22, from Anumanthai and S Arul Mary, 73, from Savirirayalu Street.
