VILLUPURAM: In a tragic incident, a teenager who tried to commit suicide by hanging, after receiving information that her father had died, succumbed to injuries on Sunday.
According to sources, Palani of Koonimedu Kuppam village near Marakanam is a fisherman living with his wife Anjana and two sons Rajakumar, Rajashankar and daughter Rajakumari (17). On Saturday morning, Palani left for Puducherry along with his friend. In the afternoon, Anjana’s father received a call on his mobile phone wherein the caller informed him that his son-in-law was found dead near the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science hospital. He passed on the information to Anjana, who broke the news to the family. Even as neighbours arrived to enquire with Anjana, the girl went inside and locked herself. Sensing trouble, neighbours broke open the door only to find Rajkumari hanging from the ceiling fan. At once, she was rushed to PIMS hospital in Puducherry. Meanwhile, Palani returned home in the evening and was informed about the incident where upon he rushed to the hospital to be with his daughter.
