273 Medical Seats Filled on Day Three

The third day of general counselling for medical seats closed on Friday with just 273 seats to be filled. This is even while the marks of the students has not gone below 197 out of 200.

CHENNAI: The third day of general counselling for medical seats closed on Friday with just 273 seats to be filled. This is even while the marks of the students has not gone below 197 out of 200.

The 200 marks were calculated after reducing  marks in Physics and Chemistry in the plus two board examinations to 50 points and Biology to 100 points after normalization.

On Friday, the last candidate to be given a seat had 197.75 marks out of 200. The high marks are in spite of the fact that all the seats that were allotted on Friday were under the reserved categories.

As many as 574 students were allotted medical and dental seats on the third day. As on Friday, all the seats in the Open Category and in the BC category have been filled in all government medical colleges, governments dental college, besides the government quota in self financing colleges. On Saturday and Sunday, the counselling will be restricted to the remaining seats in the MBC, SC, SCA and ST categories.
