5 Surrender in Rowdy Murder Case in Pondy

PUDUCHERRY: Five persons, including two engineering students, involved in the murder of notorious rowdy Chandru alias Manikandan (21) surrendered before the Saidapet court in Chennai on Wednesday.

Police said, the surrendered were Noor Ahmed and Shajahan, of Jeeva Nagar, Sabari of Lawspet, Shiva of Arumbarthapuram and Gokul of Reddiarpalayam. Noor Ahmed and Sabari are students of a private engineering college, while Shajahan is an engineering dropout.

Police said the Grand Bazaar police will take custody of the accused after completing the formalities, within three or four days. Chandru was hacked to death by the gang on Vallalar Salai around 6 pm on Tuesday. The gang then brandished knives and fled.
