TNPSC Told to Fill Up 352 VAO Posts from Reserve List

Madras High Court has directed the TN Public Service Commission to operate the reserve list to fill up 352 posts of village administrative Officers (VAOs) as a one time measure.

CHENNAI: Madras High Court has directed the TN Public Service Commission to operate the reserve list to fill up 352 posts of village administrative Officers (VAOs) as a one time measure.

“The TNPSC shall operate the list, which either remained vacant or fell vacant between September 15, 2012 and January 2, 2013,” Justice S Nagamuthu said in an order passed on June 17 last.

Disposing of a writ petition from one Ezhilventhan and 23 others, the Judge directed the Revenue secretary to furnish the actual vacancy position in each district. The names and roll numbers of the candidates, who did not join or joined and left and their community and the category under which they were selected should also be furnished, so as to enable the TNPSC to adhere to roster system. It shall be done within two weeks.

After receipt of the above particulars from the government, the TNPSC shall operate the reserve list and adhere to roster system and other rules of reservation and shall fill up as far as possible all the 352 vacancies as one time measure. This exercise shall be completed within six weeks.

The judge also directed that of the 352 vacancies, after the reserve list is operated, if any more vacancies remain, the same shall be covered in advertisement No. 382 dated March 17 this year of the TNPSC and shall be filled up accordingly. To this extent, the advertisement shall stand modified.

The judge also added that this order shall not be quoted as a precedent for any purpose in future as it has been passed in view of the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case.
