46-year-old used to send sexually loaded messages to his ex-student pursuing MS

A 46-year-old Assistant Professor at a Government Medical College has been arrested on charges of harassing one of his old students.

According to Town All Women Police, Senthil Kumar (46), of Rasipuram in Namakkal district was working as Assistant Professor (Childcare) at Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College.

During 2006-09, a girl from Namakkal was a student in the College. Senthil had allegedly proposed to the girl on numerous occasions but she never showed any interest.

After completing her course in Salem, the girl went to Kerala for pursuing her MS course. Senthil continued to harass her by sending sexually loaded messages via phone as well as Facebook.

On February 26, the girl came to Salem and submitted a petition to the Commissioner of Police, A Amal Raj. The Commissioner then forwarded the petition to Deputy Commissioner Prabhakaran and asked him to act promptly. The Town All Women Police registered a case against Senthil after investigation and arrested him on Friday. He was remanded in Salem Central Prison.

“The professor’s overtures were not reciprocated by her. He kept harassing her even after she graduated and left Salem. We filed a case against Senthil Kumar under The Women’s Harassment Act and Information Technology Act,” K P Sarada, Inspector of All Women Police said.

Senthil’s marriage ended in a divorce in 2011. He originally hailed from Thalaivasal in Salem district but currently stayed at Rasipuram.

Twins Rape 19-year-old

Coimbatore: Two twin brothers, studying at an engineering college in Ettimadai, allegedly drugged and raped a 19-year-old girl, who studied in the same college, on Saturday, police said. The incident happened at the twins’ home in Edayarpalayam last Sunday. One has been nabbed while the other is absconding.
