Special School for Disabled Suggested

The District Planning Committee has asked the State government to set up a special school for disabled children from class VI to XII.

The District Planning Committee has asked the State government to set up a special school for disabled children from class VI to XII.

This was one of the resolutions passed at the seventh meeting of the committee that was held here on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by its chairperson Dr Leela Subramaniam who is also the district panchayat chairperson.

Leela said the committee has sought through another resolution to start government technical training institutes in Kandhili, Vaniyambadi and Pernambut areas.

A special training institute for the SC/ST candidates for their placement in government jobs; a mobile veterinary clinic for all taluks have also been mooted by the committee.

 She said that projects to make value-added products from tamarind, nursery for vegetables, solar driers for copra-making, community grain depots have been sanctioned to be implemented soon under the aegis of the District Planning Committee.

Collector Dr R Nanthagopal, who had participated in the meeting as a special invitee, said that as more people were opting for small millets, the district has been implementing many projects to promote activities in this regard to the tune of  ` 1.17 crore under the aegis of Pudhu Vazhvu Thittam.
