Constable's Plea Against MLA Closed

The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has closed a petition filed by a traffic police constable seeking a direction to register a case against a MLA.

In his petition, A Yacobu, a head constable with the Thoothukudi Traffic Unit, said that on June 18, 2013, while he was on duty at the VVD signal traffic point on the Palai-Thoothukudi Road, he saw a car bearing the registration number  TN 69 AD 555, followed by three more cars, being driven rashly and in a negligent manner.

As he was on duty at the particular signal, the petitioner stopped the car. It was then that the sitting MLA of Thoothukudi S T Chellapandian came out of the car and started to abuse the petitioner for stopping the vehicle. Further, he threatened the policeman with dire consequences and refused to take his car from the signal.
