A total of 65,620 applications seeking inclusion of names in the electoral rolls were received during the special camps held in polling booths in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts on Sunday. In Vellore, a total of 49,991 people submitted applications at the special camp for inclusion of their names. Of them, 23,624 were men and 26,367 women.
Election Department officials said that 16,890 applicants (8,229 male and 8,661 female) were between 18 and 19 years old.
In Tiruvannamalai, a total of 15,629 applicants submitted their applications. The Election Photo Identification Cards (EPIC) would be issued to the applicants after completing the regular procedures. They would get their EPICs before 20 March, said Tiruvannamalai Collector A Gnanasekaran.
