‘Panna’ Ismail  was caught along with his associate Bilal Malik on October 5 last year, from their hideout at Puttur in Chittoor district .

Sources in the prison said they had received a fax from the Dean of the Hospital stating the hospital administration had made all arrangements to admit Ismail on Thursday for the treatment.

The terror suspect, who was arrested with his associates Bilal and ‘Police’ Fakruddin in connection with murder cases of the functionaries of Sangh Parivars in the State, had been taken to the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital from here on February 24 for the treatment. However, the hospital authorities sent him back to the prison, citing his health condition. Ismail was first operated upon on October 13 last year, eight days after he was captured by the CB-CID team. A team of doctors removed the bullet that was lodged in his abdomen.

He was kept under medical observation at the hospital for two days and was discharged. The doctors had asked the police to bring him back for post-surgery treatment three months from then, police said.

He was shifted to Puzhal prison-II from the Government Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital. After his health condition improved, he was shifted to the Vellore Central Prison for Men on November 10 last year.
